Called SAH. They advised they have the meds. I went to pick it up. They couldnt find the script. 30 minutes of waiting later, they got a new script written, but didnt have the meds there. They sent me across town to wedgewood in Pureland. Wedgewood said they cannot do it and wondered why they sent me there for that particular antibiotic as they are a compound pharmacy and it would have to be custom made, but unavailable in the doses they wanted and also not in pill form. Also, it would take about 5 days for it to be made. 45 minutes later and lots of calls and waiting on hold, Swedesboro hospital admitted they messed up and said they had it. Drove back across town to the hospital and picked it up. I thought that was enough. Our dog started limping again about a week later. She had been diagnosed with lymes in the past. They asked us to bring her back in and have her tested again for lymes. After they confirmed the testing was positive, they said they couldnt give her antibiotics for lymes because they didnt know if that was why she was limping and she would need another exam (we already took her in for this reason when this began). We went to another vet for assistance as at this point, we were concerned for her well being.
I rarely write any negative notes to any one but I am feeling so frustrated right now. Our dog Brandy had been a long time patient of yours for years...but due to distance and financial reasons we took brandy to another animal hospital ..who at first seemed fine..but we took her to 3 visits over a 5 week period with concerns about her eye and smell of mouth ....only to be told she was just getting old. But things never improved and on the 3rd visit we finally find out that Brandy had an ulcer on her eye and a infected tumor in her mouth. I can't tell you how bad I felt about changing vets because of money. My husband and I decided that we were bringing her back to you even though the charges are so much higher ...we learned our lesson and know Brandy deserves better ....so we brought her in on May 5, 2017..the Doctor (Katie) was awesome she explained everything in detail about how the ulcer was healing but not attaching to the eye...she gave us serum made from brandys blood for her eye and said to bring her back in 5 days to make sure it was healing properly. She then examined Brandys mouth and gave us our options and her opinion of what she thought was best. Which was to bring her back to see if infection was gone and to have X-rays done to rule out any cancer anywhere else before doing surgery because of her age. She is 11 ..We agreed and when we left we were very happy with our decision to come back. We did our best to make sure Brandy got all her medicine as prescribed ...we had thought that the infection in her mouth was clearing up because the smell was getting better and as for the eye we could see a change in it but she was still tearing a lot and pawing at it quite a bit. On May 10th we returned for Brandys follow up visit. The vets name on the invoice was Kimberly....she seemed very confused with just about every part of the exam. She barely got Brandys eye open to look in but stated she thinks it's getting better...when we explained that Katie thought it was healing but not to the eye ....she looked puzzled ...we went on to explained that Brandy had been pawing at her eye more was still tearing up and that she had gotten sick in the middle of the night and is not eating right. She again stated she thinks she sees scar tissue so it must be healing....she seemed to be finished...when I asked how she could tell if it was adhering to her eye she didn't know so my husband explained how the stain test showed the die between the eye ...once again she looked puzzled ....we suggested maybe doing another stain test ...she wasn't sure it be ok because the stain would still show from 5 days ago....but she did do it....but after was still unsure if it was healing correctly...her words were I " think" it is....?? Then my husband reminded her about Brandys tumor in her mouth and she again looked confused ..she did look at it and said she "thinks"the infection was gone. ...when we inquired about what we should do next and asked how serious this could be ....she was no help....we were scared and just wanted to know how to proceed....she just told us to make an appointment to have her removed and biopsy..... we asked about doing the X-rays first to see if the cancer was anywhere else she said you can do that....just make the appointment to have her X-rays done and if they see no cancer they will continue on with removing the tumor for biopsy..... we left feeling like we ourselves did the exam and to make things even more frustrating when I went to check out having to pay $83 for an exam that we felt like we were coaching the doctor through....and proceeded to schedule the appt. for X-rays and surgery ..the girl at the desk who was very nice....said we can't do that ..Brandy needs a consult and X-rays first ..which are only done on Tuesday's and Thursday's...and surgeries are done on Friday. I don't know if this doctor is new but I must say it was a very disappointing visit and would request that we see someone else in the future.
We placed an order online to try to save a little money. SAH would not call back site with script and we could not get it ordered for this reason.
I can't say enough good things about this hospital... caring, compassionate, and kind would be a few words to describe them. I was there and spoke with Sydney upfront and she was so nice! #lapofloveveterinaryhospice
A few days later, they called and advised its infected and needs antibiotics., but appears to be cancer free.
Sincerely
I want to thank the Dr.s and staff at Swedesboro Animal Hospital for the care and treatment of my best friend Trinity Phillips. At 3 years of age Trinity developed seizures and they started to come fast and furious, when the time came that my vet could no longer provide the care she needed I was left looking for someone who cared enough to see her at 2300. The care they provided was though-row and caring. Unfortunately she was in such bad shape when we found them she had brain damage due to the length of time it took to get her in some where. The Doctor informed me of all medical data and test results that was available and discussed all options with layman's clarity. Unfortunately Trinity had to be put to sleep. Again they were kind and caring and I couldn't have received better care for her or my family. Many vet hospitals could have provided medical care but it was the caring and concideration of Trinity and my family. I would recommend them with the highest amount of gratitude. You won't find better! Thank you for everything Trinity Phillips Family
Dr. Magazu has been great with my cat. He helped my cat when another vet completely misdiagnosed him. There was no unnecessary testing done. He was more concerned with getting to the root cause of my cat's issue. After the reason of what was causing his problem was determined, then, if any tests were necessary he would do them. Those tests did not end up being necessary and for that I am appreciative because that tells me this place was just not out to take my money like a lot of places do. My sister and a friend recommended Swedesboro Animal Hospital to me and I'm thankful they did. I, in turn, have recommended it to two other friends as well and, from what they told me, they were happy as well.
Scott & Stella Gesner...and Brandy too.
Vet calls about 30-60 minutes later and said it wasnt done due to infection (the infection they were unaware of at the visit and called us about a few days after the appointment). They FORGOT to tell us they didnt do the shots, but as of now have told us we werent charged for it. We advised we are supposed to drop off our dog in 30 minutes for boarding and are leaving the country. They offered to board her for twice the amount and refused to budge in any way for the inconvenience. This is supposed to be a top notch hospital, and charges top notch prices as a result. I expect the best service. This unfortunately, has actually been the worst I have ever experienced. We are removing our dog, cat and bird from here immediately. Nothing has been done to ensure customer satisfaction other than a couple "sorry"s over the phone. Completely unacceptable. Im left here wondering if she received her shots, but they didnt mark it down or if she didnt receive it and now needs it. They said they gave her her shots? What a mess!!!
I really dont like speaking negatively about a place, unless I am completely wrong done by. I was hopeful they would try to make it right since there were so many mess ups on their end, but unfortunately, the only option I have is to make others aware.
We just went to ask for paperwork on her shots and they said the notes show it was supposed to have been done, but they werent sure if it actually was and they would need to check with the vet.
We took our dog in for lump on leg and because she was limping. We asked for shots to be done as well. They muzzled her and took her in the back. Then they brought her back and advised everything was done and lump examined. They then took a sample of what they indicated as a cyst for cancer testing after she came back into the room. $300+ dollars paid for this visit.
